Omar F. (right), Dozer Operator- 40 years

We enjoyed celebrating Omar’s 40-year milestone with a lunch grilled on-site and shared with Brubacher team members at Delaware National. He also received a certificate, a monetary award, and Brubacher voucher. We are grateful for the many qualities Omar shared with us over 4 decades. Omar can always be counted to grade with excellence, help others learn from his experience, think beyond to what comes next, and care properly for the machines he operates. One unique aspect of Omar’s career is that he is still in the same role Ben hired him to fulfill over 40 years ago – Dozer Operator. Many people think about career growth that involves new titles, and Omar’s story is a reminder of the advancement that can happen within the same role – learning new skills, safety expectations, time-saving tricks, and ability to work independently, all of which we value and for which we reward. At his celebration lunch, Omar encouraged the younger folks to tackle challenges and pursue excellence, choose noble purposes in life, and ended with a reminder to love what you do…but not TOO much that it takes the place of nurturing strong family relationships.

Harley B. (right), Operator, 10 Years

Harley started at Brubacher as a laborer on a utility crew. Harley showed expert craftsmanship and determination to grow. He is now a miscellaneous operator and is a very valuable team member. We are pleased to have Harley on our team!

Shirwin R. (right), Paving Roller Operator, 5 Years

Shirwin is my Lead Operator/Breakdown Roller Operator on George’s Utilities Paving Crew. He has the strongest work ethic I’ve ever seen in my paving career. He’s filled in for George several times this season and the crew has not skipped a beat.

Shirwin’s ability to lead men is becoming more and more apparent, and I’m very fortunate to have his versatility in the Paving Department.

Tom M. (left), Clearing Operator, 35 Years

Tom recounted his pathway to and within Brubacher at his celebration lunch: When Tom first applied at Brubacher in 1989, there weren’t any job openings until the fall of that year. He was hired as a laborer, becoming an accomplished pipe-layer before moving into a backhoe and then excavator. In 1994 when Ben launched the Land Clearing operation, he asked Tom whether he wanted to dig for pipe or work with the clearing crew felling trees and pulling stumps. As Tom tells the story, he didn’t have a strong opinion either way. So, Ben decided for him and that’s what he’s doing ever since…operating excavator for the land clearing crew, tearing down buildings, and anything else we assign him to do in between projects.  We are grateful for his loyalty and dedication, care and maintenance of equipment in a lot of very difficult situations, and his desire to ‘get to work’ as an influential team member.”

The past 5 years at Brubacher have been full of excitement and rewarding work interactions with some of the best team members around.  I feel blessed to have found a role with an organization that encourages empathy, compassion, understanding and fairness when it comes to supporting our team members and their loved ones.  I may not know everything there is about dirt after the past 5 years, but I do know that we have some of the best people in the business when it comes to executing on our mission of shaping the world we live in!  I look forward to serving our team members and their family members for the next 5 years and beyond.

Those who have the privilege of interacting with her know that she enjoys recognizing others and celebrating their part in our success and their career growth. Carolyn leads the HR team in supporting the company in recruiting, retention, benefits, and other areas that directly affect the lives of our team members. We appreciate Carolyn’s desire to serve others well, her deep care for others, and the new ideas and perspectives she brings to Brubacher. Dave started with the Utilities Department five years ago as a Pipe Laborer. He has shown commitment and the willingness to learn and grow. Dave is our newest Pipe Supervisor and is continuing to grow and learn everyday. It has been a pleasure working with Dave on his journey here at Brubacher.

Brian is always looking out for the crew and making sure he’s doing his part to keep us successful and moving forward. He’s always willing to lend a helping hand in times of need, and he’s as dependable as they come. I can always count on Brian to do what needs to be done—and then some.

Clint S. (left), Equipment Operator- 20 years

Clint is an expert equipment operator. I’ve had the privilege of working side by side with Clint on multiple projects where his ability to operate equipment was unmatched by others. Clint is very knowledgeable when it comes to pipe work and can be counted on to help train and guide new employees and supervisors. Clint is also very mechanically inclined and can fix just about anything. We are very pleased to have Clint on our team, congrats on 20 years!

Joe started as a laborer with the utilities department. Joe has shown good work ethic and has since been promoted to pipe layer. Joe has a positive attitude and is a vital part of our team. Congrats Joe!

Julian is a dedicated field survey Instrument /stakeout professional. I have had the privilege of working with Julian as a valued part of the survey team for the past 3 years. Julian is willing to learn new things as well as collaborate with team member to solve problems. It is my pleasure to be able to present him with this 5-year service award, and I am pleased that he is part of our team.
