Brubacher’s mission Shaping The World We Live In goes above and beyond what we do in the construction industry through earthwork, paving, and utility infrastructure services. We are dedicated to living out our mission by also serving our community in a variety of other ways. CrossNet Ministries, a faith-based non-profit organization offering help and hope to the Eastern Lancaster County community, recently came upon the need for an apartment renovation project in New Holland, PA. When we learned about their purpose for this project – to provide a good-quality, low-cost shelter for those moving out of homelessness or housing insecurity – we knew it was an opportunity to help meet the needs in support of their mission.

Our team conducted the interior demolition phase of the approximately 800-square-foot apartment unit, which was found to be in an unlivable state. Pipe Supervisor Kevin M. eagerly led the two-day project with additional team members, embracing his passion for volunteer work and capitalizing on his personal experience in home remodeling.

“It was definitely different than our typical days on the job, but I’ve personally done this type of work before. Knowing this would help this ministry in our local area, and learning about Keith’s passion for the organization, had me very interested in helping with this project,” said Kevin. “We tore everything down, ceiling tile, paneling, kitchen counters and base cabinets, everything. We removed the toilets, bathtub, vanity, and removed all carpeting. When we were done, all that was left was the stud wall structure with wires hanging out.”

Following Brubacher’s completion of the demolition phase, a renovation and remodeling contractor came in to begin the next steps to help bring the apartment unit back to life and get it ready for new occupants. We are blessed to have been a part of this project and are grateful for CrossNet Ministries’ presence and commitment to providing youth, community, and food and nutrition programs, as well as social services, to those in need in the ELANCO community.
