Earthwork & Grading

The success of any project relies on the strength of the construction team and stability of the ground it’s built on. A well thought out plan for effective site work can ensure the project infrastructure sets you up for success with everything that follows.

Brubacher has decades of major earthwork and grading experience. We’ve successfully moved tens of millions of cubic yards of dirt for warehouses, residential subdivisions, landfills, quarry overburden removal, power substations, and everything in between requiring us to cut, fill, compact, and grade. All of this is accomplished by our team operating safely and efficiently. We seek to engage with clients early on, developing a plan and cost structure to manage unsuitable soils, rock, and sinkhole challenges.

Our modern fleet of excavators, haul trucks, dozers, and scrapers is ready at all times to tackle large earthmoving projects. Unscheduled downtime is less than 2%.

Our sequence, insights, technology, and experience at every stage give you confidence that we’ve minimized your project risks. These steps summarize a typical project flow:

  • Using 3D software, our quantity takeoff and estimating team calculates the amount of earthwork. These calculations include key factors, such as subgrade hold-downs, trench spoils, stormwater basin conversions, and phasing of future work.
  • Planning and sequencing the work through collaboration with key stakeholders to develop an effective plan that achieves project goals safely, accurately, and within constraints.
  • Work with the client's geo-technical engineer to identify soil conditions, rock, and sinkhole-prone areas, then develop a plan to address them.
  • Earthwork and grading begin with progress reviews to evaluate against the plan and make adjustments as needed.
