Truck Technician Responsibilities

The typical shift at our Bowmansville Fleet Maintenance shop is from 5p.m.–3 to 5 a.m. in the shop.

  • Performs State inspections, scheduled preventative maintenance, repairs, and replacement work on heavy duty trucks and trailers
  • Performs preventative maintenance based on established schedule using modern diagnostic instruments and equipment
  • Reads and interprets vehicle manuals and schematic diagrams
  • Troubleshoots vehicle engines and related systems and repairs or rebuilds vehicle engines and systems
  • Determines and orders the parts needed
  • Assures that vehicles assigned are in good working condition, and meet all safety and Department of Transportation specifications.

Heavy Equipment Technician Responsibilities

 

Work is done primarily during daylight hours and requires flexibility to accommodate job schedules.

  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance, repairs and replacement work on equipment at the job sites and/or in the shop
  • Uses modern equipment and computer programs to troubleshoot, analyze, and adjust the equipment's internal systems
  • Determines parts that are needed or must be fabricated, and orders parts and materials through appropriate departments
  • Assures that equipment assigned is in good working condition and meets all safety specifications.  
  • Troubleshoots engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical and related systems
  • Repairs or rebuilds engines and systems
  • Reads and interprets manuals and schematic diagrams
  • Effectively communicates with site superintendents on the job sites about the status of equipment repair.
