The following positions are based out of the main office in Bowmansville.  Jobs sites for these positions are located east and south of this office, ranging through central and eastern PA, northern MD, and Delaware. Business Development Director

This new position will be responsible for seeking out and bringing in new opportunities through (1) growing our market presence and market share in our core markets, (2) promoting and expanding selected services in our core markets, and (3) evaluating expansion opportunities into new markets.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least five (5) years of experience and proven success in building, growing and expanding territories and promoting new products and services in the excavating and/or construction industry.
  • A proven record of achieving exceptional results and building solid business relationships with clients, having impeccable client interfacing skills.
  • The ability to work independently,
  • An alignment with company culture and core values.
  • A minimum of 5 years of construction industry experience, preferably in site construction or design (or similar) with a proven understanding of adjusting profit margins, balancing prospects with schedule needs, and assessing the risk of job start slides in order to assure a full production schedule is maintained.
  • A college degree in construction, engineering or business preferred, with a focus on sales or communications is also required.

Vac Truck Operator

Work closely with Utility crews, using vacuum excavation, to safely find and see underground utilities, increasing the crew’s productivity and reducing the chances of damaging buried utilities. Qualified applicants will be self-motivated, a hard working team player familiar with sanitary, storm and waterline applications, and trenching and confined space regulations. Class A CDL drivers license with a tanker endorsement and 1 year of experience in a similar position is preferred.

Driller

This position is responsible for operating late models of Sandvik and Atlas Copco top hammer drills, to drill holes for explosives used in trench, bulk and quarry blasting operations. Works from a set of plans and blueprints to determine the proper layout and depth of the holes. Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in this field and will be willing to travel to Susquehanna, Bradford and Tioga county.

Pipe Layer

Brubacher is seeking experienced Utility pipe layers, to assist the crew Supervisor in ensuring the crew meets or beats daily production goals, while meeting all safety and quality standards. Our crews lay pipe for sanitary storm sewers, gas utilities, and water mains.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understands trench safety requirements, soil types and use of protective systems
  • Regularly uses a shovel, digging iron, cut-off saw and tamper
  • Maintains depth by checking the laser beam or grade stakes and communicating with the operator
  • Sets up the pipe laser and periodically ensures that trenches are at the proper grade by frequently checking the pipe laser or grade stakes
  • Communicates with the operator about the alignment of the pipe by using hand signals to ensure the proper depth.
  • Sets concrete structures (inlets, sanitary manholes, meter pits, etc.)
  • Directs the Pipe Laborer on what tools are needed in the trench, the length of the pipe, and how to cut the pipe
  • Assists the Pipe Supervisor with planning out the jobs by reviewing blue prints.

Successful candidates will have 2-3 years of experience.

Pipe Laborer

This position is responsible for assisting the Pipe Layer installing pipe for sanitary and storm sewers, gas utilities, and water mains. The laborer performs a wide variety of manual tasks, including:

  • Using a shovel, digging iron, cut-off saw and tamper
  • Jack hammering asphalt/concrete
  • Positioning, cutting and fusing pipe
  • Connecting various pipe pieces by glue, heat, or slip jointing
  • Maintaining depth by checking the laser beam or grade stakes and communicating with the operator
  • Cementing around pipes and inlets
  • Communicating with the operator about the alignment of the pipe by using hand signals to ensure the proper depth
  • Assisting other crew members by handing them tools and material
  • Inspecting the pipe fittings to ensure it is defect free and clean

Qualified candidates will have previous experience doing outdoor labor work; tasks can be learned on the job in a relatively short period of time.

Truck Driver

Moves construction equipment and materials to and from job sites and within job sites. When operating a truck with a low boy trailer, is responsible for loading, unloading, and properly securing the equipment.

Qualified candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • CDL A license required with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
  • Excellent driving record
  • Willingness to drive to satellite locations in Central PA
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

Minimum of 2-3 years of tractor trailer driving experience; construction equipment transportation experience preferred

Heavy Equipment Operators

Brubacher is seeking experienced heavy equipment operators. Successful candidates will have at least 2 years experience operating backhoe, excavator, loader, dozer and/or scraper (Pan) at either earth moving or pipe work. In addition, successful candidates will work well independently and as part of a crew and will demonstrate safe work behaviors.

Clearing Operator

Responsible for felling trees, grubs, stumps and underbrush. Skids trees to landing, bucking logs, grinding trees, and stumps into a truck or the ground. May operate multiple pieces of forestry equipment related to land clearing such as an excavator with a grapple, a stump harvester, a feller backhoe, skidder, and/or a chainsaw. Qualified candidates must have at least two years operating in a similar field.

General/Dedication Laborer

This position performs a wide variety of manual tasks designated by the supervisor, including:

  • Hand digging with a shovel
  • Jack hammering asphalt/concrete
  • Carrying a wide variety of materials and tools
  • Signaling equipment operators to facilitate alignment or adjustment of materials or equipment
  • Operating small pieces of equipment such as cut-off saws, compaction equipment, and light vehicles
  • Assisting supervisor with setting up grade stakes and setting inlets, manholes, and water valve boxes to grade.
  • Using hand tools

Paving Screed Operator

This position is responsible for Responsible for operating the screed from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongside. Uses the screed to lay asphalt material to project specifications including but not limited to depth, width, and grade, when not operating the screed, performs laborer duties. Must be able to detect and correct defects in surfaces, seams and edges. Responsible for having a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. Qualified candidates will be knowledgeable in paving operations and have at least two years of experience operating a screed.

Paver Operator

This position is responsible for operating the asphalt paver and assisting the supervisor in determining the pattern and sequence of the paving operations. Directs the trucks delivering asphalt to the paver, alerting the driver to overhead obstacles and signaling instructions. Removes asphalt material that may be sticking to conveyors, augers and other parts of paver. Cleans equipment as necessary during and after work is performed following proper lockout/tag-out procedures. Qualified candidates must have a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. Requires at least three years of experience operating an asphalt paver.

Paving Roller Operator

This position is responsible for compacting asphalt material to desired finish using specialized, high impact equipment such as a vibratory roller, one ton finish roller, hand roller, tamper, etc. Frequently performs hand tamping jobs as appropriate on areas where the roller could not reach. Qualified candidates will be knowledgeable in paving operations, have two years of operating a roller and must be able to see and correct defects in surfaces being rolled, such as depressions, swales, seams, edges, etc.

Paving Skid Mill Operator

This position is responsible for operating a skid steer with a mill attachment for the paving department. Previous experience operating a skid steer with a mill attachment is preferred. CDL-A license is required.

Paving Laborer

This position performs a wide variety of manual tasks including shoveling and raking asphalt to grade. Previous experience doing outdoor labor work in extreme heat is required; tasks can be learned on the job in a relatively short period of time.
